Happiness Index!!

Back in 2018,we(4 members) went to Auto Expo held in Greater Noida from 9-14th FEB.

I was the common link between the four of us. One of us was my school friend, one from college and another one from corporate. So these people together can summarize my whole life. Another important thing is we were from different disciplines too. One is a software Engineer, one is a data analyst, one is a mechanical engineer and myself Engineer by Degree Manager by Profession .

So as we were free on weekend we decided to visit Auto Expo.

Being from engineering disciple we were excited to attend such an event but we didn’t know that it will be full of glamour.

Opposite attracts we studied but seen a practical example at such a huge scale first time as every dashing car is accompanied by a beautiful/cute girl.  

Whatever we see through our eyes consciously or unconsciously gets imprinted in our memory. By the time these will fade out but will exist and get renewed if something related to it which you can’t believe happens. The same happened to me.

As smoking in NCR is a normal thing for boys but girls smoking in a public place is a rare sight to watch. As soon as I saw her my brain goes into processing mode and tried to identify that girl. And the result was shocking as a few minutes ago I had seen her accompanying dashing car smiling, enjoying life at fullest. From that natural smile, anyone can perceive that she is happy with what she is doing.

There may be multiple possible reasons for people smoking while in a group like FOMO(fear of missing out) or Peer pressure.

The fact which I wasn’t able to process is that she was smoking all alone. Why do people smoke when all alone, I asked many people. The most common answer was STRESS BUSTER.  

I can’t accept the fact that stress buster is the reason for smoking. What I think maybe the reason is that we are unable to share our thoughts which are puzzling our minds so in order to escape from reality we start smoking(which contain nicotine which increases the secretion of Dopamine. Dopamine plays a role in how we feel pleasure. It’s a big part of our unique human ability to think and plan. It helps us strive, focus, and find things interesting. ) or something else and try to resolve the problem temporarily. The permanent solution is “Mann Ki Baat” with others. Yes, Mann ki Baat. Now its time to change the language क्यूंकि मन की बात को हिंदी में अच्छे से बयान किया जा सकता है|

बहुत बार ऐसा वक़्त आता है की हम कुछ कहना चाहते है पर कह नहीं पाते और अंदर ही अंदर वो बात हमें खाएं जाती है| उस समय हम बहार से तो खुश लगने का ढोंग करते है पर अंदर ही अंदर परेशान रहते है| कुछ ऐसा ही हुआ उस दिन, वो लड़की सबके सामने तो मुस्कुरा कर अपने अंदर की परेशानी को छिपा रही थी पर जैसे ही वो चकाचौंद वाली दुनिया से निकली और असली दुनिया में आई (एकांत और कम भीड़ भाड़ वाला इलाका) तो परेशानी खुद ब खुद चेहरे पे आ गयी| परेशानी को ख़तम करने के लिए उसने सिगरेट जला ली| मुझे लगता है की सिगरेट जलाने की बजाए उसे अपने किसी दोस्त/परिवार वालो को कॉल करके बातचीत करनी चाहिए थी जिससे की परेशानी को जड़ से ख़तम किया जा सके|

   

क्यूंकि कई बार परेशानी साझा करने से भी दिल हल्का हो जाता है और उसको को जड़ से ख़तम करने का हल भी निकल आता है|
कई बार ऐसा होता है की हमें कोई मिलता नहीं जिससे की हम अपना दर्द साझा कर सके|कितनी बार मुझे भी यह लगता है की मेरा दर्द कोई नहीं समाज पाएगा| इन हालातो में हमे अपना दर्द लिख कर भी अपने दिल को हल्का कर लेना चाहिये|(like writing Diary everyday) बाकी कभी कभी में ये सोचता हु की आज के युग में जहा टेक्नोलॉजी राज कर रही है तो एकArtifical Intelligence powered खुद का human hologram होना चाहिए जिससे हम अपने मन की बात कर सके|

Another solution to this is Feedback. Because if one is not able to initiate sharing then feedback is the good option. Everyone is working under someone, with someone or for someone. The superior one can take feedback of primary one and focus on HAPPINESS INDEX! For example Government should look after happiness of its country’s citizens, corporate should look after happiness of there employees etc.

In today’s era we have to shift our focus from making profit in every aspects to happiness index!!!!!!!!!!

PS. : मुझे पता है की में अपनी बात ढंग से नहीं समजा पाया तो जिनको बिलकुल भी समाज नही आया उनके लिए संक्षेप में कहूंगा : दिल में कोई बात है तो कह दो , उसे अंदर मत रहने दो , अगर अंदर रही तो खोखला कर देगी|

  1. Hello Anoop, Nice observation and food for thought, and I am tempted to share my thoughts on the same. I feel the reason cigarettes are popular is because they are easily available and easy to consume, and somehow humans are drawn to negative habits just to prove they are not negative. Anyways, what can be the solutions for this problem… taking to family, friends, and peers about the stress is a very age-old and trusted method and should definitely be encouraged. Apart from that, you said, today’s era focus should move from profit-making to happiness index. In my view, this is a little ambitious and ideal condition to think about, I am not saying it’s not possible but as of now we are not in the position to influence any industry to this route, but yes pointing this out is important so that slowing the social structure moves in that direction, I appreciate your effort in that regards. Now here I would like to add one more point, till now we talked about what others can do to handle our stress but we should also think about what we can do to tackle our stress. I am not including talking to family and friends here rather a more personal approach and that is Yoga. Every individual’s mind has humongous power and ability and still, we get stressed out on little things, that’s a pity situation. We should work towards improving our own capability to handle more and more, why get restricted to any one thing. And if someone wants to improve their overall capability then Yoga is the best tool for them. Then there will be no question about stress or cigarettes or happiness, every situation will become a skillful play.

    1. Yes yoga and meditation is one solution to such things but it is little bit tough then sharing thoughts with others. Sometimes it’s like you need to release that energy by sharing. And you need someone who can understand and say everything will be fine. Believe me these four words have magical power. Sometimes we have little spark in ourself to start again at this time these four words act as a catalyst.
      Yes I agreed that thinking of routing industry to achieve happiness Index is ideal condition and as per science we can’t achieve ideal condition. Suppose ideal condition is denoted by I. Reality is denoted by R.
      Then I=KR
      Where K is the reality constant.
      We have to work in direction which increases K to unity. In current situation we don’t focus on K or say K is 0.

      1. Regarding Yoga and Meditation, I am not saying to meditate while you are in an agitated or stressful situation, it won’t work like that. Instead, it should be practiced daily and after a significant amount of practice, you will see that no matter how worse the situation is you are just doing fine without getting stressed, you then won’t need someone saying ‘everything will be fine’, rather you will know that everything is fine.
        Regarding ideal condition, yes I agree, though it is ideal we should direct ourselves to tend towards it. But the question in my mind is how you and I can be part of this change?

    2. Just to add my views regarding AI, I feel that is not a good idea to make people depend on something that is artificial like AI for something that is too eternal, i.e., happiness. AI and all are the only patchwork and will make human slaves, we have already become slaves of technology that we can’t even think of life without gadgets. We already depend on technology for physical and mental support, extending it to emotional support will be a bad idea. Moreover, something like emotions cannot be handled by something that just follows the lines of code. If such a thing is promoted then a few technological giants will have the power to influence and mold the human mind and behavior according to their own wish, which will be a complete disaster for human society. In my view, a human has all it needs and should work towards becoming self-sufficient and capable rather than creating dependencies(especially for emotions) on technology.

      1. Agreed totally, this is the biggest disadvantage of technology. But sometimes it’s difficult to find person of same frequency as of you. And as you said Happiness is too eternal same frequency person will only understand you that’s why I mentioned AI. Everything has its PROS and CONS it’s totally depend on you to use what. If we interact with AI powered human hologram more frequently than I agreed it may influence or mould human minds but little bit of interaction or less frequently is good.

      2. Regarding the use of AI the way you have suggested, I feel CONS is quite heavy against PROS. Yes, it depends on the people on how they use the technology but I feel technology has so far reduced human interaction, (yes we are having conversations even being miles far apart but how many neighbors do we interact with? and think about the time when there were no phones, neighbors were like families back then) and with the introduction of such gadget that you are talking about, human interaction will only reduce. And humans are bad at regulating themselves, how will a “little bit of interaction” be made practical.
