Question mark ??

Disclaimer: If you have enough leisure time than only read this so that you can’t blame me if you don’t get anything useful from this.๐Ÿ˜€ But if you are reading than feedback is must.๐Ÿ™

As pandemic is still on so I wasn’t able to go on trip that’s why it’s not possible to write trip Blog. But once you start writing(3-4 blogs) your heart says one more blog one more blog……

So here I am with BLOG cum MANN KI BAAT which comes under GYAN PEL RAHA category of blogging.

So let’s begin………………………..

Many times we make promise to ourselves that if I was in his or her shoes  I wouldn’t have done that. Or in future if table were turned and situation is same than definitely I will respond differently.

But many times this promise is intact until and unless the table is turned……

The above lines are gist of this blog which I should have wrote down in end. But let it be.

Experience 1:

Being interested in coding I wanted to get some job which require coding skill. But I got job in core company (Non IT). Transition from Non IT company to IT company as a fresher is difficult or may be impossible (which is true In my case๐Ÿ˜€). But I tried to get skilled for IT companies keeping in mind that anyhow if I get a chance of Interview in IT company than HR MANAGER will hire me cause of dedication, passion and little bit skills.  Keeping that in mind 2-3 years ago I made a promise to myself that if I ever get a chance to interview someone who is like me i.e. dedicated but less skilled as per job profile then I will give a chance to candidate and hire him/her.

That time I didn’t knew that someone somewhere is planning to give me this opportunity and test me. Time passed, I got promoted, transferred to other department, became leader of small team. Now I got the chance to interview someone as one of my team member resigned.

I interviewed one candidate, he was like me but I did exactly opposite what I promised to myself.  I didn’t hired him but higher authorities hired him.

What I learnt from this is that we don’t know the situation completely until and unless we are in that situation. For better understanding lets consider situation as circle and yourself as dot. If dot is outside circle it cant see the complete circle and if we ask dot to respond than in many test cases this response will be different from what when dot is inside circle cause when dot is inside circle it can have complete overview of circle.

While making promise I was like why they don’t hire fresher’s who are dedicated or passionate but less skilled. And now I got the answer all by myself. There may be different reasons for everyone but one common reason may be lack of manpower which causes recruiter to recruit experienced one as they can’t invest time in developing fresher’s

Experience 2

In Indian corporate world there is one culture prevailing since long time i.e. vendors give gift before the most auspicious festival of India i.e. DIWALI.

Note: Let’s not discuss whether it’s bribe or not. That is entirely different debatable topic ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

Before this Diwali I was a team member not a team lead. So from past 4 years I was a team member. On my first corporate Diwali gift distribution or we say gift receiving period I observed a strange thing that gift is dependent on the Rank of the employee. I was in deep shock as its not justifiable cause gift can’t be depend on the rank. That time I again made a promise to myself that if ever I became a team lead than I will either fight for same gift for the complete team or not accept gift.

This Diwali GOD gave me chance to complete this promise. And what happened next? that you all know, I did exactly opposite. Neither denied gift nor asked for same gift for the entire team.

I did nothing just went with the flow.

There is list of such experiences, sharing those here is just not possible. But with these two experiences what I want to convey or rather ask whether its possible to pre-decide the response of situation which we may face in future? If YES what is the probability that we will stick to that?…………………..

Thanks๐Ÿ™……………………

  1. Bro, amazing. Its really important to be open about our experience because it gives chance to contemplate the same. Now i have a question, I understand why you couldn’t hire a passionate but less skilled person but tell us why it was difficult for you to deny or equalise the gift??

    1. As I mentioned I just went with the flow.
The gift receiving process is so quick(even you may have experienced this in start of your career) that my mind wasn’t able to identify what’s going on.
I can’t do anything to Equalising the gift but yes denying is totally my descision but that time I didn’t denied. But I’m assuring you I had done something to neutralize that gift.

      1. Itโ€™s good that you have done something to neutralize the gift. Thatโ€™s what is needed. You went with the flow but then rectified it according to your consciousness. That is what is important, appreciable. Just remember good actions but taken late may yield bad results. You must be thinking, โ€˜sale khud to sare gifts le leta that ab gyan de raha haiโ€™. But no, what I am saying is that never let your consciousness down. Anyways, taking gifts in the corporate world is in itself a hugely debatable topic. Surely there are some limits but itโ€™s up to you how you see it and act upon it. All the best and continue expressing yourself.

  2. There are many instances when we know the act in front of us is not ethical but we choose to remain silent. Itโ€™s not always a bad decision because you donโ€™t know the reason why such practice is there at first place.

Showing discontent without considering the aspects and reason will only get you in trouble ..
